 KWARAPOLY: LEGEND'S TEAM DEFEATS PIONEERS TEAM TO LIFT MASS COMMUNICATION HOD'S CUP -Bello Mustapha- The Legend Team of Mass Communication ND II defeats the Pioneer's Team of HND I to lift the HOD's cup 2021/2022 in the final that resulted in penalty shootout after a goal-less draw in the 50 minutes full time, at the Kwara State Polytechnic Stadium, Yankari on Friday. The match kicked off few minutes to 12, and was called to a stop by the referee's final whistle five minutes past 1 after the both sides failed to hit the goal. Henry of ND II took the first penalty kick, shooting it off to the keeper's left, and Kudaisi of HND I scores the team's first kick putting them in lead before Ibrahim lost it for them and was balanced on a 2:2 ratio after the third shootout. The penalty kick was extended to 8 kicks each with Adams putting the ball at the back of the net to put ND II in the lead. BREAKING: National anthem co-author Prof Ogunnaike dies

 Anthem, Professor Babatunde Ogunnaike is dead. He was 65. Ogunnaike was born on March 26, 1956 and hailed from Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State. A notable Nigerian educationist and publisher, Gbenro Adegbola confirmed his death. According to Adegbola, Ogunnaike emerged as one of five, whose words and phrases were combined to form the anthem. The others were: John A. Ilechukwu, Eme Etim Akpan, Sota Omoigui, and P.O. Aderibigbe. Ogunnaike attended the University of Lagos for his bachelor’s degree, graduating with First Class Honours in chemical engineering in 1976. He furthered his studies and earned an M.Sc. degree in statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a PhD in chemical engineering also from the same university in 1981. Ogunnaike was a research engineer with the process control group of the Shell Development Corporation in Houston, Texas from 1981 to 1982. He worked as a researcher for DuPont and was also a consultant to several companies including Gore, PPG Industries, ...

 Zulum gives N100m business grant to 152 youths who renounced thuggery  … To sponsor their 152 children in schools After organizing for them, one month of intensive practical training on entrepreneurship, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday presented N100m to 152 reformed youths who were prominent members of a violent political thuggery group code named ‘ECOMOG’ in Maiduguri.  Zulum made the presentation at the Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri, venue of the one month training.  The 152 youths had renounced thuggery in response to Governor Zulum’s ban, announced at the end of 2019. Following that announcement, the Governor in August 2019, directed theenrollment of 2,762 youths into a ‘waste for cash’ sanitation programme in which the youths cleaned the drainages to earn monthly stipends.  Satisfied with the improving conducts of the youths, Governor Zulum directed selection of leaders and most prominent persons who were engaged in thugger...

 Task Force Hits Bus,several injures While Chasing Suspected Yahoo Boys In Osogbo Operatives of Joint Task Force in osun State have allegedly hit an 18 seaters passenger bus conveying passengers and food in Osogbo, the capital of osun state.   The accident occurred around Ring Road and it was learnt that the JTF operatives tried to run away from the scene of the accident but for angry onlookers who prevented them from leaving. VAM News gathered that the JTF operatives were giving chase to suspected yahoo boys when the accident occured.   Information available to our correspondent at the scene indicates that victims have been conveyed in an O’Ambulance to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.  BREAKING: 102 year old woman declares to run for President in 2023 [PHOTOS] A 102 year old woman has declared her intentions to vie for Nigeria’s top seat in 2023. Mrs. Nonye Josephine Ezeanyaeche has stated that she has good plans for Nigeria should she be voted in as President. Ezeanyaeche, who is also called ‘living legend’ or “Mama Africa’, hails from Aguata, Anambra state and is the founder of the ‘Voice for Senior Citizens of Nigeria’ group. During a recent visit to the Management team of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, she expressed readiness to contest for the position if the younger generation of the country are not ready.  BREAKING: WAEC releases 2021 GCE results   The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, on Monday released the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, results for Private Candidates 2021- Second Series. WAEC’s Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, disclosed this during a press conference at the council’s office in Yaba, Lagos. Giving a breakdown of the results, Areghan said that of the 51,444 that wrote the examination, 25,008 representing 48.61 percent obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. WASSCE for Private Candidates, also known as General Certificate Examination, GCE, is written in November/December. It’s a private examination that doesn’t require uniforms, but biometric registration is compulsory. This examination is usually taken by secondary school leavers who want to correct deficiencies in their results.

 BREAKING: ASUU To Go On One-Month Warning Strike The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has voted to go on a one-month warning strike to press its demands on the government, following lengthy debates that lasted into the early hours of Monday. The strike, according to a source at the conference in Lagos, is to give the Federal Government time to accomplish what it has to do, failing which the union will proceed on an indefinite strike. “We just want to give the government a long rope hoping that it would see the need to avoid a total paralysis of academic activities in the nation’s universities. We are parents too and have our children in the system but we cannot watch and allow the total collapse of education in the country. “Our agitation is in the interest of all and if the system is made better, we will all enjoy it.
