A torrential Downpour that lasted from Tuesday night to Wednesday in Olunlade Ilorin

Residants in Olunlade laments over Heavy rain that caused severe flooding and damages in the community.


According to a landlord Mr Yayi Rasheed, that there have been in this Flood problem over 4 years ago which all the Landlord of the community has tried their possible means to get a lasting solution to it but till date all solution was abortive.

He futhered disclosed that to cross the flooded road, one has to pay the young men to back you for a fee of N100 ,  an awkward practice that requires residents,  old and young, to climb the young men’s backs to be carried like babies.



Speaking with newsmen one of the residents of the community Mrs Adeleke she also laments that this heavy rainfall damaged alot of things in her own apartment in which this is the first time she is experiencing it, because she has not spend up to a year in the community, and she was surprised when she heard they have been facing this Flood problem for over four years now and the government has done nothing to it .


She futhered thank Almighty God despite the deed,all no live was taken because they didn't even know where to start when the rain gets heavier and heavier but above all God saved them.


The community pleads for aid from the Kwara state government to help in finding a lasting solution to the Flooding problem.

By: Muhammad Sanni Aisha  fauziyat Qozeem a resident of sahoo said people dump waste product inside the river in sahoo, particularly the villagers at night. Fauziyat further stated that the dumping of waste products inside the river, had caused water pollution in the area, and makes the community looks unkept. She however appeal to kwara state government, and all stakeholders in the community to provide them a suitable waste-bin, and urge the residents to make proper use of it when it provided.

KWASU Vice Chancellor, prof.
