High cost of Chemicals like fertilizer in the market and inadequate interventions from the government to support the farmer have been identified as the major causes of increase in price food in the State.

In and interview with a farmer, Prince Simon, a native of Kogi State and resident in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, stated that it not their wish to hike the price of food, but they are helpless as prices of their equipment went up.

He said they need the support of the government financial support , provision of equipment like harvester and planter, adding that they also need big farms which huge capital is required.

Simon decried that flooding contributed to the increase in price of food that most farm land are being wash away by flood every year and about million of naira yearly is lost, adding that cattles also  destroy their farms product .

He however advised that we take the issue of insecurity seriously and report any suspicious movement around us to the right authority or security agency.
