 Ilorin residents shrieks out over Epileptic power supply

The residents of Oke-Ose, Dangiwa, and Kwarapoly areas in ilorin requiem a poor electricity supply to the area as it affects their social and economic activities.


One of the residents who speak with a correspondent, during an interview, Miss Susan Oluwatoshin, in Dangiwa said because of the epileptic power supply they have to go to a different house to charge their home appliances and phone.

According to her “We have to charge our phone and appliances wherever and whenever we heard of generator in the area, and this has become a bad nightmare for everyone in the area" 


A frozen fish seller, who operates in the Oke-Ose area of Ilorin, Mr. Ahmad Akorede a.k.a Worldwide, also describes the situation as highly frustrating. said, “My job depends basically on electricity, and since we have been experiencing poor power supply, my business has suffered seriously for lack of patronage and my good is at a devastating level. I have been using a generator for some time now and it is costly and unaffordable, but for my goods not to got spoil I have to use it like that .”


An Officer of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC, Mr. Kale Akopari, who worked at Baboko Unit, confirmed the poor electricity supply during a phone interview on Tuesday, According to him, “the situation is not peculiar to Ilorin and its environment only but the entire state is affected". 


He explained that the problem was caused by the low power supply by IBEDC and heavy rainstorms in the Area. He, however, gave the assurance that the problem would be solved soon and appealed to consumers to show understanding
