It is reported that the rate of extortion from police officers in Ilorin has become very alarming amongst higher institutions students schooling in ilorin both indigenous and non indigenous students.
Students are said not to have free movement anymore, as a result of the rate of police brutality under false accusations, as owning a car, smartphones, laptops or dressing well seems to be crime to the kwara state police command as they believe anyone with the above features is into fraud or cybercrime. And they have them arrested if they are unable to pay the price they are charged as fine.
In an interview with some students who would like to remain anonymous, they stated that most students have been refrained from their rights as citizens of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
They however urge the commissioner of Police as well as the governor of Kwara state to look into this and provide a long lasting solution to it.
