oke-oyi community has been experiencing erratic power supply

By: Buhari Kaosarat Dasola

The settlement has been experiencing poor electricity supply as a result of over-depending on one transformer.

Oke-oyi is a community with over a thousand houses and thousands of residents connected to a single transformer in the community to get an electric supply.

Every month, they have to repair their jumper because of the load on the transformer, which is their plight in the community.

Even though the community was just developing, thousands of residents are residing there. The overcrowding of the transformers was what led to low voltage and sometimes, outright blackouts in the area.

The community discovered that the transformer it was using has the capacity that could serve about 200 houses conveniently, however, thousands of houses are depending on it for power supply.

They appeal to Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, through the state commissioner for energy, Mr. Aliyu sabi to give them a transformer to ease the pressure and heavy load currently mounted on the transfer serving the community.
