Students of Kwara state polytechnic, Ilorin laments over over the increase of open defecation in the school environment as a result of lack of public toilets.
During an interview with ND 2 student of SLT department, Mr Babatunde Adeoti, said “The absence of toilets in the polytechnic has really been making students inconvenient in the sense that some students would have to go into the woods or find some corners in the campus to defecate which also is harmful to the health of individuals in the campus because sometimes the feaces are being scattered around the school environment when it’s raining. Also, when some students need to defecate sometimes they have to leave the school environment and go home to do that if they can't do it in the bushes, and it makes them miss some classes”.
However, Mr Babatunde concluded that the solution to this problem is for the school management to provide conducive restroom for the students so they can defecate and urinate conveniently to safe the environment.
