Workers, traders and students residing in Oyun, Ilorin east, laments over poor electricity supply in the community.

According to an artisan Mr Rahmon Azeez, who works in Oyun, he said to newsmen, "this electricity is what I use to get my income because I do laundry for people, and without electricity supply I can't use my washing machine not to talk of pressing iron I haven't gathered enough to get a generator because I need a big generator to power my equipment". He furthered that for this reason, he has loosed some of his customers and it is affecting his daily income severely.

In an interview with one of the traders Mrs Aminat Alabi, she said majority of her customers love to buy cold drinks and since there is no power supply and no ice block to keep her drinks chilled, some of her customer has switched to patronizing other competitors to purchase cold drink, and this is  affecting her daily sales and income.

A student of kwara state polytechnic, Owodunni Aishat, also said what the IBEDC are doing is not fair enough because her phone was stolen when she went to charge it at a friend's place as a result of no power supply. "That wouldn't have happened if I had electricity in my room" she said. She added that the IBEDC inability to supply electricity is also affecting her study because the noise from her neighbour's generators hinders her concentration and assimilation while studying.

The residents however urge the authority of IBEDC to look into this issue and provide them with the required electricity.
