RESIDENT LAMENTS OVER PERSISTENT FLOODING.

Residents of Eleko, Ilorin laments over excessive and persistent flooding in the area as a result of poor drainage system.
In an interview with a resident, Mr. Bello Quadri, he made it known that the community keep experiencing flooding because people are careless and reckless in the way they use drainages.
According to him, majority of the people are lazy and not ready to keep their environment clean.
He added that residents do not see anything wrong in the blockage of drainages, because they pour their refuse into these drainages whenever it rains which is totally not responsible
He furthered that, flooding have taken a lot of lives and destroyed of properties as a result of blocked drainage, since these water has nowhere to pass, they then flood the roads, and environments.
Mr Quadri however said this can change if residents deviate from their nonchalant attitude towards cleaning of drainages by not pouring their waste into it and clearing bushes around these drainages to keep flow of water to the right channel. He also call on Kwara state Government to help the community rehabilitate the drainage systems to ensure safety of lives and properties in the community.

I really pray the government can find something to do about it
ReplyDeleteYes I think they need more enlightenment on the implications of blocked drainage resulting to flood and can affect residents when there's no free and clear passage for the water
ReplyDeleteI don't think they know this things causes infection or sickness in the area or community when the environment is not healthy then the people there are no safe because of their nonchalant attitude
