Residents of Egbejila, Ilorin calls the attention of Kwara state government and waste management agency to the poor attention given to waste management resulting in inappropriately dumping of waste on people's land.

According to Mr. Hassan, a land owner in Egbejila laments on how he has tried his best to bring the government’s attention to the issue because exposure of such waste is harmful to man and its environment.

It was gathered in an investigative research that 85% of the residents in Egbejila dispose their refuse in the bushes which are other people’s landed property. This poor waste management is gathered to be as a result of lack of sufficient waste bins in strategic locations in the area.

Also in an interview with another resident, Mrs Fathia Adeniji, she said the more people continue to dispose their refuse inappropriately, the more people’s lives are in danger. She furthered that waste mismanagement poses danger to the people’s health, and inability to evacuate the heap of wastes in the community could result in an outbreak of different disease.

However, the residents pleads and urge the government and the waste management agency to urgently initiate measures to address the issue and make provisions of waste bins to shun waste mismanagement in the community.
