 Residents, students lament over high rate of insecurity at Elekoyangan

The residents of Elekoyangan, Ilorin, including students of Kwara State Polytechnic who lives around the vicinity has lamented over the high rate of insecurity such as robbery, kidnapping and rape amongst others in the area. 


Elekoyangan being a community close to the state polytechnic and where many of the students of the institution resides is gradually becoming a threat to properties of residence as a result of insecurity. 


In an interview with some villagers in the area, Mrs. Adeleye Balikis Folashade, said the high rate of the insecurity in the area has led to students evacuating massively which will affect the economy of the community greatly. 



One of the victim, a student of Science Laboratory Technology, Kwara State Polytechnic, Rosheedat Abisola, who explained her ordeal with a suspected thief, said that she was attacked alongside two of her friends, stating that they were threatened with a knife to drop their bags which they did because they were helpless and defendless. 


She further states that she knows about three other people that have witnessed such life threatening incident, adding that they don’t attack villagers except for students. 


They however call on Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State command to come to their rescue and curb the vicious act as soon as possible.
