 The Polytechnic of Ibadan has confirmed an attack by suspected armed robbers on the institution’s staff quarters in the early hours of Monday. The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Soladoye Adewole confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan. The attack occurred at about 12:30 a.m at the North campus of the polytechnic. A lecturer in the Department of Biology, Mr Okedara Emmanuel, who was injured during the attack was rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for treatment. Adewole said that no life was lost while the lecturer, who had gunshot wounds, is responding to treatment. The matter has been reported to the police and security has been scaled up at the campus, he added.

 The Lagos state police command has conducted an autopsy on the body of 12-year-old Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni, who died in a controversial circumstances after he was allegedly attacked by some seniors in his school. Spokesperson of the state police command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, December 17 said an autopsy has been conducted on Sylvester’s remains and that the result is being awaited.  A 30-years-old man, identified as Ibrahim Abdulazeez, has been arrested in Osogbo, Osun state for allegedly purchased a Toyota Camry 2010 model for N2,650 from a car dealer. The Police commissioner Olawale Olokode while parading some suspects at the police headquarters in the state capital on Friday, said the Mr Abdulazeez allegedly committed the offence on November 26, at 3:30 p.m CP Olokode said that the suspect later through a bank transfer paid N2,650 for the car sold to him for N2.65million.   The federal government has stated that it has paid lecturers N30 billion Revitalisation Fund and N22.5 billion Earned Academic Allowance, stressing that it has made lot of progress in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding reached with the university workers. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, who spoke to THISDAY at the weekend on the update of government’s engagement with ASUU, said that he had received confirmation from the Federal Ministry of Finance that funds had been released to the universities for the revitalisation of infrastructure and payment of earned allowances.  A Yaba Magistrate court in Lagos state has remanded five students of Dowen College in Lekki who were arrested by the Police in connection to the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, in a juvenile home. The spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the development but stated that investigation into the matter is still ongoing. Ajisebutu said: “They have not been arraigned yet. According to a Bloomberg's report, his wealth surged to $20.1 billion (N8.4 trillion) last Friday. Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index put his networth at $26.27 billion (N11 trillion) which he achieved in 2014.   Saheed Baruwa, a 30-year-old Man, who went missing after he left his home for a job few days to his wedding in Osun state, has been found. On November 8th, VAM News shared the story of how Baruwa, who is a plumber by profession left his home on Tuesday, to work around Gbeja area of Osogbo in the state. Giving an update this morning, a close relative of Baruwa, Oluwatobi Ajiteck confirmed that Baruwa has been found alive. “He has been found yesterday evening. He was a plumber. He was called for a work. It was there they apprehended and he got kidnapped. He was taken far away to Ibokun town. They robbed him of all his money in his account. They later released him due to social media clamouring and help from others. They dropped him off along Ibokun road where passers by later identified him. He was extremely tired and collapsed.

 The Katsina State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir, have been assassinated by gunmen.  It was gathered the deceased might have been killed at his residence on Wednesday night. According to a neighbour who craved anonymity, the commissioner’s lifeless body was discovered after he failed to return several calls made to his phone. “Only for us to discover his lifeless body this morning when we entered his house. “More worrisome is we are all living near the state Police Command,” he added.
